| One warm saturday afternoon, while we were installing
the T-Bird's scoops in our Muatnag hood, my brother (the
genious that he is) just had to mention that he had
nothing to put his 350 Chevy motor in. The motor was very
well built, but it was just a small block. He pulled it
out of his Monte Carlo with the intention of rebuilding
the car and putting a 454 into it. The motor was just sitting and needed a home. My mustang was running with a monster 4 banger that he'd built years ago and just happened to sell to the guy (for $800 I think) who had this Mustang. We bought the car and got his 4 banger back - what a deal! There was no way that I could afford to build even a modest SBF, and when we looked at the engine compartment, knowing that Ford made it big enough for the BBF engines - it only took us a minute to decide what we were going to do. A couple of short hours later, the 4 banger was out behind the barn, and we were lining up a dummy 350 motor to slide in there. |
